Kent's most enchanting
wedding venue & restaurant
A beautiful glass pavilion and rustic barn venue for weddings and events at Upchurch, between Rainham and Sittingbourne, alongside a daytime restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.
A Kent country estate,
transformed into a destination
Established in 1984 and once known as Gore Farm, The BarnYard is a secluded retreat set in the heart of the Kent countryside in the beautiful village of Upchurch. Joanne and David McInnes have lovingly transformed it into one of Kent's best loved wedding venues, restaurant and event spaces.
Surrounded by 150 acres of apple and pear orchards, with a luxury glass pavilion (The Arboretum), a rustic barn (The Apple Barn) and beautiful restaurant (The Rooster and The Roost) with gardens designed to take your breath away, it's a place to escape, to gather and to celebrate.

What our guests are saying
With love and excitement, The BarnYard FamilyRated 4.4 from over 970 Google reviewsA huge thank you to Kirstie and T for making our wedding day so special. Having viewed many venues, we chose The BarnYard for its wonderful atmosphere and charm, and knew we had found the perfect place. My makeup artist said the lighting in the Blossom dressing room was the best she has ever worked with, and it was reassuring that the Apple Barn could be used if the weather turned. Truly a hidden gem we cannot recommend highly enough.
This was our first visit to The Barnyard to celebrate our mother's birthday and it didn't disappoint! From the moment we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The menu had lots of choice, so much so we could have ordered all of it, it was delicious! Another visit is a must, we can't wait to come back.
We held a school prom at The BarnYard and the events team were helpful from beginning to end. They answered every question and responded promptly to emails. On the evening the venue was wonderful, the staff were kind and attentive, and everywhere looked great. Everyone had a blast.
We had a Twilight wedding at the Apple Barn in June. The barn itself is so beautiful with fairy lights throughout, and the courtyard is great for photos and for guests to mingle. Tscharna was our coordinator and could not have done more for us, calming any nerves and keeping everything running smoothly. We went for the evening BBQ and had lots of guests praising their meal. Would definitely recommend The BarnYard.
Absolutely outstanding from start to finish! The food was exceptional, beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with great care and attention to detail. The service was just as impressive. The staff were warm, friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. It's rare to find a restaurant where every aspect of the experience is spot on, but The BarnYard certainly delivers. We couldn't fault a thing and will definitely be returning.
I celebrated my 50th birthday in the Arboretum and it could not have been a more perfect setting. The venue is absolutely stunning, with the orchards providing a beautiful backdrop. Tscharna, Harry, Archie and the whole team were incredibly helpful, keeping everything running smoothly. The food was excellent and my guests thoroughly enjoyed it.
We had our wedding on the hottest day ever recorded for a May bank holiday. From our first visit, to booking, to the big day and afterwards, I have not got a single complaint. They were always on hand and no question was ever too much. All our guests commented on the staff, the beautiful setting and the food especially. We had literally the perfect day.
Food beautifully presented and scrumptious! Service perfect and attentive without being too much. We'll definitely be back, it's the kind of place you want to bring everyone you know.
We host our school leavers' prom here every year and the planning team, particularly Kirstie and Tscharna, are fantastic. It is a pleasure to work with them. The venue is absolutely beautiful, great food, great DJ, a great place to celebrate.
